Rabbit’s Foot
Rabbit’s Foot is a choreographic collaboration between Kluane Peabody and Elizabeth Armitage .
As a creative duo, our work is informed by a creative process of contrasting values: explosiveness and subtlety, improvisation and strategy, power and softness. We are interested in creating narrative work that explores and reflects these contrasting values in character and setting. Our process in the studio is based in experimentation, improvisation and dialogue, and pulls inspiration from a wide range of artistic genres and practices. Our shared interest and understanding of music has been a keystone of this creation. We ask questions about what it means to move through an emotional landscape in our work, and how rhythm and emotion can be connected. We are interested in creating work that is theatrical, dynamic, and virtuosic.

Gnashing
Gnashing is an in-progress duet Elizabeth and Kluane began researching in spring 2022. Since then, they’ve been researching a character who is brooding, masculine, and conflicted. A dance theater piece, Gnashing explores themes of madness due to isolation and self-sabotage through a gritty, intense, and cinematic physical character exposé.
The character is a collected, brooding individual; self-destructive and self-sabotaging. Both dancers portray this character in the duet, shifting between the “shadow self;” the menacing, destructive force, and the protagonist.
The duet and the concept for the duet are heavily inspired by the themes and aesthetics of film noir.
